Since 2005, the RTS organizes the International Conference on Railway Engineering (ICRE) every three years with the objective to provide a forum for sharing knowledge and experience, promoting collaboration among railway practitioners, as well as revealing recent development and applications of new technologies in railway engineering. The Conferences have attracted speakers and delegates from all over the world. The guests and keynote speakers were renowned railway experts and government officials. The participants included planners, operators, engineers, researchers, academia, consultants and government officials of all aspects of railway engineering including electrical, electronic, civil, mechanical, control, signaling, communication and computing. The Conferences have covered a wide range of topics related to railway, including new technologies, system assurance, quality, operation and maintenance, project management etc. With the success of the Conferences over the years, the event has established its position as a landmark of the railway industry in Hong Kong.
